AI data centers consume a lot of power. That generates a lot of heat which in turn requires considerable cooling to keep everything running in tiptop shape.
As these data centers expand and become more powerful, the need for innovative cooling solutions is greater than ever before, and Samsung is tapping into this opportunity with a $158 million investment.
Samsung views HVAC as a key driver for future growth
The company today announced that it's going to invest $158 million to build a new HVAC production line in Gwangju, South Korea, by 2028.
This production line will primarily build FläktGroup HVAC systems, including those that provide vital cooling solutions for AI data centers.
Work on this 21,500 square meter HVAC factory is projected to be completed by 2028. FläktGroup isn't just a random partner for this project. Samsung acquired the Germany-based FläktGroup, a leader in global Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning solutions, last year for $1.68 billion.
This was the second biggest acquisition that Samsung has made after buying Harman International for $8 billion about ten years ago. Samsung sees considerable future growth in the HVAC industry, which was the basis for its acquisition of this company.
The latest $158 million investment for a new production facility goes to show that Samsung is fully committed to executing the vision behind this acquisition.
